How Can We Help?

The Maine International Trade Center received a grant from the Office of Economic Adjustment, Department of Defense to support companies and businesses engaged in Maine’s defense industry. Defense Industry Maine (DIME) was established to serve these businesses and companies and to help administer grant funding. 

OEA 2018-2019 Grant Award

Administered by the Maine Department of Community and Economic Development (DECD) and Maine International Trade Center (MITC), the objective of the OEA Grant is to support Maine companies to diversify and grow both within and outside of the defense industry.

Eligible defense companies seeking to diversify may receive financial support for:

  • - Market Research and Diversification Assistance
  • - Compliance and Certification Assistance
  • - Trainings and Industry Events
Eligible businesses may receive reimbursements totaling up to $14,000 per year through this program for costs of outside services associated with these activities. Please visit the MITC OEA Grant Award page for more information. 
 

Defense Market Research and Technical Assistance

Defense Industry Maine offers free one-on-one consulting assitance and research services which includes ITAR and EAR compliance, trade logistics, documentation, sourcing, and research reports on new markets.

DIME and MITC staff have many years of experience and strong connections in key industry sectors including composites, construction and engineering, marine, military weapons, precision machining, rope, telecommunications, textiles, and more.

Trade Shows and Industry Trainings

To diversify and grow your company, we can help you find and attend relevant trade shows and conferences. Additionally, through the OEA Grant Award, we may be able to offer you financial reimbursement for some costs associated with these events. 

DIME and MITC also host industry trainings like our International Traffic in Arms Regulations training and ExporTech Maine. We will announce trainings on our website as registration becomes available. More information can be found on the MITC Programs and Events page.
